Steve Konopa is the Secretary-Treasurer of Local 305 and serves as the chair of the Executive Board. He is serving his second term as Secretary-Treasurer, while previously holding two consecutive terms as the Local 305 President. His duties include administering, operating and managing the local finances, ensuring that the membership does not have to worry about their family’s livelihood and protection on the job. He also serves as a Trustee on the Teamsters Healthcare Trust. Secretary-Treasurer Konopa, in addition, is a Trustee on the Joint Council 37 Executive Board and serves as the Joint Council Director of Legislative Affairs.
Steve has been a proud union member for 47 years. He is a native Oregonian and was born and raised in the middle of the Willamette Valley. Steve grew up on a farm and is used to hard work. He is a third-generation union member of the Butcher’s Union, where he started working as a meat cutter in the grocery industry in 1975. His background includes working for the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 as a Union Representative, Staff Director and Grievance Director, and held a seat on their Executive Board. In 2010, he switched labor industries to the Teamsters in Salem and then in 2013 with Local 305 in Portland.
Steve has been married for 46 years to his lovely wife, Sharon and together they enjoy three adorable grandchildren. When asked about his Union advocacy, he smiles and replies, “My Dad taught me to be proud of who I am, where I came from and try to make a difference in the lives of working people."
As Local 305 President and Union Representative, David Schmidt assists the Secretary-Treasurer in the day-to-day operations of Local 305, in contract negotiations, Business Agent training and oversees all meetings of the Union, along with many other duties.
David has served as the Representative for the Solid Waste Industry in the Tri-County area and the Movie and Theatrical Industry since 2015. David also serves in a key role as Union Trustee for the Oregon Teamsters Employer Trust (OTET) since 2016. Additionally, since 2023, David has acted as a Director on the committee for the Portland Teamsters Building.
David is a 36-year Teamster who began his career in 1990 working for Pride Disposal in Sherwood, Oregon after serving his four (4) year term in the US Army as a motor transport operator. He was a shop steward for many years before becoming a Local 305 Union Representative.
David believes continuing to build strong Teamster contracts is the foundation for our members and their families, so they will be well taken care of and feel secure going into the future. He also believes it is such a great honor and privilege to represent our Local 305 membership.
Vice President Andy Campbell moved to Oregon from British Columbia, Canada in the early 1990s. He started his Teamster career with Albertson’s in August 1995. Andy became a shop steward in 2012, as well as becoming the Vice President on the Executive Board in 2015.
He enjoys numerous sports and outdoor activities. One of his favorites is spending time with his family.
Recording Secretary Jackie Ayles is a 16-year Teamster member.
Jackie started with Toyota Logistics in 2006 when a tsunami in Japan led to her layoff. Before she returned in 2010, she gained experience on a design team and eventually a tool and die journeyman making aftermarket automotive accessories. For the last four years, Jackie has served as Local 305 Steward and the PPO shop lead.
Jackie enjoys the outdoors, snowboarding, wakeboarding, hanging out with her wife of 8 years, helping her parents on their farm, doing PPF and vinyl wraps, giving love to her 3 dogs, and watching her kid play sports.

Trustee James MacPherson has been a Teamster member for over seven years, a union member for 26 years. He spent five years with Aramark Uniform Services, out of the five years he served as a shop steward for three them. James has held the Trustee position on the Executive Board at local 305 for the past four years and is currently employed at Daimler Truck Northwest for past two years.
Luke Milburn has been a Teamster member since October of 1996. He has spent the last 26 years working for DTNA as well as serving as a Trustee on the Local 305 Executive Board for the past seven years. He is a proud dad and an avid golfer.
Trustee Brian Ellingson is a 32-year driver for Arrow Sanitary. Brian has served as a shop steward for over 10 years.
His hobbies include, fishing, hiking, golfing, landscaping and gardening.
